From February 2017 until now, the Berlin Civic Diaspora has turned words into deeds and ideas into events. Whether civical, political or simply social, these events reflect our collective belief that whatever we want to move, the first step must be to bring people together in real life and less so in virtual life.
Yes, Facebook can facilitate interactions and social mobilization, but it can do too little to cultivate trust and a sense of belonging in interpersonal relationships. A conversation between four eyes, or more, in an open and familiar environment, on topics that grind us all, to a greater or lesser extent, all these are preliminary to trust and implicitly preliminary to constant and long-term involvement .
And this is what DCB has in mind: a politically involved diaspora or in our language, a civic and political force.
